Puppy Development, Ages 3-12 Months

Susan Hoyles, Chair

About Susan Hoyles.  Susan and her husband, Paul, live in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada with their two Stabyhouns, Wilhelmina and Goose.  Wilhelmina (Willie) is a three-year-old female and Goose is a growing puppy.  Susan is a Canada Border Services Officer and her husband is an Air Traffic Controller.  But their real jobs are taking care of their 4-legged children.  Susan and Paul have been “Staby Obsessed” after having to say goodbye to their beloved lab mix, Maxi, in 2016.  They love their dogs and are always part of their life and go everywhere with them:  hiking, swimming, paddleboarding.  Susan follows the Karen Pryor positive reinforcement methods and has raised all of her dogs with these methods.  She has attended training classes under a certified Karen Pryor Academy Trainer from puppy pre-school right up to manners levels to Rally Obedience and Agility training.  Dog training is her passion and raising 2 pups in the past two years has put Susan to the test!

Goals of the Puppy Development Team:

  1. Increase the knowledge and communication of Puppy Owners through the facebook page “Ameri-Can Stabyhoun Association Puppy Training Group.”
  2. Work together toward a common goal of raising happy and healthy puppies.  Provide reference materials and training on such topics as socialization, exercise guidelines, behavior problem-solving training,  games, and activities.
  3. Have a place where new puppy owners with Stabys less than 1-year-old can come to seek advice and share experiences:  Puppy Rearing, Training, and Behavior.

Contact Susan on Facebook for questions and suggestions:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/717061992076534/about.  This is group is private to Stabyhoun Puppy Owners.
